Renewable Energy, Agriculture and CO2 Emissions: Empirical Evidence From the Middle-Income Countries

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study explores the effect of renewable energy and agriculture on CO 2 emissions in a sample 94 middle-income countries for years 2000–2015. Using two-step generalized method moments (GMM) regression, we find there is negative relationship between production, value added per capita CO2 emissions. If causal, 1% increase electricity output leads to 0.18% decrease Our results remain robust when include additional control variables. suggests that policy tools such as subsidies or low interest loans can be used promote consumption countries.

Renewable Energy Consumption, Economic Growth and Co2 Emissions: Evidence from Selected Mena Countries

This paper uses panel cointegration techniques to examine the causal relationship between renewable energy consumption, economic growth and CO2 emissions for a group of 12 MENA countries covering the annual period 1975-2008. The Granger-causality results indicate that there is no causal relationship between these variables in short run except a unidirectional causality running from renewable en...

Carbon Dioxide Emissions, economic growth and energy mix: empirical evidence from 93 countries

This paper provides an empirical analysis of CO2 emissions and economic growth, based on a panel dataset covering 93 countries over the period 1960-2008, and examines the challenge of country selection for homogenous and appropriates groups. Foremost, we have proposed a no parametric hierarchic clustering approach, based on 17 criteria and used the Hierarchical Clustering on Principal Component...

Does Non-Fossil Energy Usage Lower CO2 Emissions? Empirical Evidence from China

This paper uses an autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) to examine the dynamic impact of non-fossil energy consumption on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in China for a given level of economic growth, trade openness, and energy usage between 1965 and 2014. The results suggest that the variables are in a long-run equilibrium. ARDL estimation indicates that consumption of non-fossil energy ...

Sectoral output, energy use, and CO2 emission in middle-income countries

Middle-income countries are currently undergoing massive structural changes towards more industrialized economies. In this paper, we carefully examine the impact of these transformations on the environmental quality of middle-income countries. Specifically, we examine the role of sector value addition to GDP on CO2 emission nexus for middle-income economies controlling for the effects of popula...
